Accra, February 9, 2026 —
The MTN Ghana Foundation, in partnership with Cal Bank, is set to spearhead the 2026 edition of the “Save A Life” Blood Donation Drive, aiming to collect an ambitious 7,000 units of blood in a single day to support the National Blood Service and hospital blood banks across Ghana.
The nationwide exercise is scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with donation centres activated across all 16 regions to encourage broad public participation.
Key collection points in Accra will include the MTN Ghana Head Office, the MobileMoney Ltd office at the Stanchart Building, and the Cal Bank Head Office at Ridge. In addition, 44 designated centres will operate nationwide to maximise accessibility for donors.

Ahead of the event, Samuel Bartels, Acting Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, emphasised the urgency of the initiative, noting that Ghana continues to grapple with significant blood shortages.
He described every donated unit as a lifeline capable of saving parents, children, friends and colleagues in critical need.
According to him, the campaign goes beyond a routine corporate activity, representing an act of compassion, leadership and MTN’s commitment to leading with care.
Mr. Bartels urged eligible individuals, corporate organisations and the general public to actively participate, stressing that the demand for blood is constant and essential for emergency and routine healthcare.
He appealed to Ghanaians to visit any of the designated centres, highlighting that each donation could help save a mother in labour, a child in need of urgent care or accident victims requiring immediate transfusions.
Members of the public can access the full list of donation centres through MTN Ghana’s official website and social media platforms.
Since its launch in 2011, the “Save a Life” campaign has evolved into one of Ghana’s most impactful voluntary blood donation programmes.
The initiative was introduced in response to recurring appeals from the National Blood Service over critically low blood supplies. Over the years, it has mobilised more than 35,000 units of blood, contributing to life-saving treatments and strengthening healthcare delivery nationwide.
Organisers say the 2026 edition builds on this legacy by deepening partnerships, expanding outreach and reaffirming the MTN Ghana Foundation’s long-standing commitment to promoting national health and community wellbeing.
