Accra, April 19, 2026 –
MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its leadership in the telecommunications industry with an impressive triple win at the Mobile World Congress 2026, signaling a new phase of growth backed by massive infrastructure expansion and a $1.1 billion investment commitment.
At the global event held in Barcelona, MTN Ghana secured three prestigious Ookla Speedtest Awards, emerging as the Fastest Mobile Network in Ghana, Best Fixed Network in Ghana, and Best Fixed Network in West Africa.
The recognition places the company ahead of competitors across the region and underscores its commitment to delivering superior connectivity.
The awards are based on independent analysis of millions of real user tests conducted via Speedtest by Ookla, the world’s most widely trusted benchmark for internet performance.
MTN Ghana achieved a strong Speedtest Connectivity Score of 67.16, outperforming operators in countries such as Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Mauritania.
Reacting to the achievement, Chief Executive Officer Stephen Blewett described the recognition as a testament to the company’s continuous investment in its network infrastructure.
“These recognitions from Ookla reflect the significant investments we continue to make in our network to deliver faster, more reliable connectivity for our customers.
A strong, dependable network is fundamental to expanding digital access, driving economic growth, and supporting Africa’s progress,” he said.
He further revealed that MTN Ghana is intensifying its rollout strategy, with over 500 new network sites expected to be deployed to enhance service quality and coverage nationwide.
Chief Technology Officer Reuben Opata also commended the team, emphasizing the company’s focus on improving customer experience through consistent and high-quality network delivery.
The Speedtest Awards are widely regarded as one of the most credible benchmarks in the telecommunications sector, assessing network providers based on speed, coverage, reliability, and overall user experience using real customer data.
In a further boost to its expansion agenda, MTN Group CEO Ralph Mupita announced during a recent visit to Ghana that the group will invest $1.1 billion in the country over the next three years.
The investment is expected to strengthen infrastructure, expand connectivity, and support improved service delivery across the network.
With its latest achievements and ambitious expansion plans, MTN Ghana is not just keeping pace with industry demands—it is setting a new standard for digital connectivity in Ghana and across Africa.
