Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has expressed strong optimism about the Black Queens’ chances of securing qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The senior women’s national team has been placed in Group D for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), to be staged in Morocco. They will face Cameroon, Cape Verde, and Mali in what is expected to be a competitive group.
Under the tournament format, the top two teams in each group advance to the knockout stage, with all four semifinalists booking automatic tickets to the World Cup in Brazil.
Sharing his thoughts after the draw, Okraku commended the quality within the Black Queens setup and highlighted the collective support required to achieve their World Cup ambition.
“We want to be at the World Cup, and I believe the Black Queens have what it takes to get there. We have a solid technical team, and government support has been assured,” he stated.
He acknowledged that pressure is part of the journey but stressed that the team’s response will be crucial.
“There is pressure everywhere, but what matters most is how you handle it. Our head coach has the experience needed to guide the girls, and I have no doubt that we will compete strongly and qualify.”
The Black Queens will be based in Fes, Morocco, during the group stages of the tournament.
