Aduana FC climbed to the summit of the Ghana Premier League on Friday after defeating Heart of Lions 1–0, bringing an end to the Kpando club’s unbeaten home record this season.
The breakthrough came six minutes into the second half when forward Patrick Mensah scored in the 51st minute. Mensah drove into the box, saw his initial effort blocked, but reacted quickly to slot home the rebound and hand Aduana a crucial lead in a tightly contested encounter.
Heart of Lions enjoyed long stretches of possession but failed to translate their dominance into meaningful opportunities, finishing the match without a single shot on target. Aduana, on the other hand, were more incisive in attack, registering three attempts on goal and making one count to secure a valuable away win.
The victory lifts Aduana to the top of the table, one point ahead of their closest rivals. However, their stay at the summit may be temporary, as Medeama—currently inactive due to the postponement of their match against Bibiani Gold Stars—have a game in hand.
Aduana will now shift focus to their Matchday 15 fixture at home against Hearts of Oak at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park. Heart of Lions travel to the Nsenkyire Sports Complex for a meeting with FC Samartex.
