Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams fired Nigeria into the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding victory over Algeria in Marrakech.
The Super Eagles dominated the opening half but squandered a clear opportunity eight minutes before the interval when Adams bent a close-range effort just over the bar. Their breakthrough, however, arrived almost immediately after the restart.
Just 85 seconds into the second half, Osimhen rose to meet a deep cross from Bruno Onyemaechi, steering a powerful header down and across the goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the tournament.
Nigeria doubled their advantage 10 minutes later through Adams, who coolly rounded Algerian goalkeeper Luca Zidane after being released by Osimhen at the end of a flowing team move.
Adams nearly sealed his brace late on, but his header from another Osimhen delivery crashed off the left post with nine minutes remaining.
With this assured 2-0 win, Nigeria, finalists in 2023, march into the last four, where they will face host nation Morocco on Wednesday in Rabat at 20:00 GMT.
