President John Mahama has directed all national flags to fly at half-mast in honour of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

The directive forms part of a three-day national mourning to be observed from Friday, October 24, to Sunday, October 26, 2025.

In a statement, Mahama eulogised Nana Konadu as a distinguished national figure who devoted her life to public service, women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social justice.

The President hailed her legacy as one defined by courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to Ghana’s development.

He further encouraged citizens to reflect on Nana Konadu’s life of dedicated service and the impact she made on generations of Ghanaian women and children.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings served as First Lady from 1981 to 2001, during which she became a central advocate for women’s rights and founded the 31st December Women’s Movement.

She passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital after a short illness.
