AVOID ISSUING GHANA CARD TO NON GHANAIANS-DR AMOAKOHENE

The Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene has cautioned officials of the National Identification Authority ( NIA) against the practice of issuing non-Ghana the Ghana Card through unauthorized means. He emphasizing the need for tighter scrutiny and community vigilance to prevent this act .

According to him,Ghana Card is a unique document that serves as proof of citizenship, and its issuance must be carefully managed to prevent unauthorized individuals from acquiring it.

Dr Frank Amoakohene made the appeal when officials from National Identification Authority (NIA) paid him a visit to him.
The visit would afford them to address the lingering issues regarding the Ghana Card registration in particular, the backlogs in the Ashanti Region.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, expressed concerns about the delayed in issuing the card to prospective registers.The Minister urged the personnel of NIA,to their work without favouritism.

The Executive Secretary of NIA ,Mr. Yayra Koku, stated that over 110,000 blank cards have been distributed in the . region.

He explained that ,the allocation of the blank cards, the NIA is expected to intensify its registration efforts in the Ashanti Region to ensure that all eligible Ghanaians are registered and issued with the Ghana Card.Mr. Koku emphasized that this development is expected to clear the backlog of approximately 80,000 pending Ghana Card applications in the region. This he noted would pave the way for more Ghanaians to acquire the card.
