Dr. Frank Amoakohene Swears In New Board for Kumasi City Market Limited, Charges Members to Drive Modernisation

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has sworn in the reconstituted Management Board of Kumasi City Market Limited, describing the institution as a critical pillar within Kumasi’s commercial ecosystem.

At the swearing-in ceremony, the Minister tasked the Board with providing strong and visionary leadership to reposition the Kumasi City Market as a model of modern market management. 

He stressed that the market must reflect Kumasi’s status as Ghana’s foremost commercial hub and set the standard for efficient and innovative market administration nationwide.

Dr. Amoakohene underscored the need for professionalism, transparency, efficiency, and innovation in the discharge of the Board’s duties. 

He noted that the Kumasi City Market should not only serve as a vibrant centre of commerce but also become a benchmark for inclusive and well-managed market systems across the Ashanti Region and the country at large.

On behalf of the Board, the Chairman and Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, reaffirmed members’ commitment to delivering impactful governance, enhancing service delivery, and prioritising the welfare of traders and all stakeholders within the market.

Francis Dwira Darko – Metro Coordinating Director, KMA

Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV – Vice Chairman, Otumfour Appagyahene and Manhyia Representative

Osman Sana – Representative, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs

Anthony Dzadzra – Representative, Ministry of Finance

Dr. Benjamin Dwomoh – Kejetia Representative

Nana Evelyn Serwaa Boadu – Central Market Representative, Ntoma Hemaa

Lawyer Patrick Adu Poku – Metro Solicitor and Secretary

The Regional Minister expressed full confidence in the competence and dedication of the Board to execute its mandate effectively.

 He stated that their collective efforts would play a significant role in strengthening Kumasi’s economic growth and transforming the city’s markets into engines of prosperity.

He concluded by affirming a shared vision of building a stronger, more vibrant, and modern Kumasi for the benefit of all.
