Police in Obuasi have arrested a suspect in connection with a residential robbery that resulted in the death of a miner at Asonkore SSNIT Flats Down, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The Ashanti South Regional Police Command said the suspect, identified as Rahman Adams, also known as Wale, was apprehended on January 18, 2026, at Pomposo following an intelligence-led operation
According to the Ghana Police Service, the arrest relates to a robbery incident that occurred on December 12, 2025.
During the attack, armed assailants allegedly broke into a residence at Asonkore by cutting through a burglar-proof window and made away with GH¢2,600, a laptop, and a vehicle ignition key.
The robbery turned fatal when a 42-year-old miner, who was assaulted during the incident, later died from his injuries.
Police say investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to gather further evidence and track down other suspects believed to be connected to the crime.
