The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Senyah Farms at Kodie in the Afigya Kwabre South of Ashanti region, Mr John Senyah has appealed to the government to make funding available for the “Nkoko Nkentenkente” initiative. This he believed would not only boost the
economy but to reduce youth unemployment in the country.
” The success of the program will depend not only on available funding but also on strategic partnerships with those driving grassroots production” He added.
He said It was the fastest way to create jobs for the youth .
Mr Senyah who is also the chairman of the Afigya Kwabre Poultry Farmers Association disclosed this in an interview with Ghnewsday explained that the Poultry Farmers Association has submitted a proposal and recommendations to guide the project’s implementation which includes a contract outgrower model that guarantees financial support for essential infrastructure such as poultry housing, boreholes, feed, and other production needs.
According to him the Association is also advocating for additional loan facilities to help existing poultry farms scale up production.
Nkoko Nkentenkente initiative, attention is now fixed on how effectively government collaborates with local actors as preparations advance for the nationwide rollout.
There is growing concern among industry insiders that without a practical and inclusive funding mechanism, the initiative risks falling into the same pitfalls that plagued earlier agricultural programs — limited rural reach and undue influence by elite interests
