2024 Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has lauded the Oquaye Committee for a “comprehensive and insightful” report on the future direction of the party.
“The work of the Oquaye Committee reflects not only deep intellectual rigour but also a firm understanding of our party’s values and the aspirations of the Ghanaian people,” Dr Bawumia stated.


Dr Bawumia disclosed this when he was speaking at the NPP headquarters in Accra, ahead of the party’s nationwide Thank You Tour, on Wednesday, 23rd April, commended the committee for its diligence and strategic recommendations, which he believes will serve as a roadmap for party unity and electoral success.
He emphasized that the committee’s report captures key lessons from past electoral cycles, offers innovative ideas for party organisation, and prioritises inclusiveness and grassroots engagement.
Dr Bawumia affirmed that several of the committee’s proposals would be factored into the upcoming ‘Thank You Tour’, which aims to consolidate party support nationwide and engage directly with the electorate.
According to him, the NPP stands at a critical crossroads, and the committee’s findings could not have come at a better time.
The Oquaye Committee, chaired by former Speaker of Parliament Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, was tasked with reviewing internal party structures and making strategic recommendations for the NPP’s long-term strength.

Dr. Bawumia said the report debunks the propaganda and misinformation that had sought to lay undue blame on certain individuals and factions within the party.
Adding the findings of the Committee report have brought clarity and finality to the internal discourse surrounding the party’s loss in the 2024 general elections.
He emphasized that the work of Committee’s has been thorough, impartial, and backed by facts,. which has put off all the propaganda and mischief that followed our electoral defeat.
” The truth is now clear to every committed party member and Ghanaian who seeks to understand what truly happened.” Dr Bawumia asserted.
“This report is not about blame; it is about learning and growing stronger. We must rebuild with courage and honesty.” He added

Dr Bawumia urged party members to rally behind the recommendations of the report, stressing the need for unity and reform as the party prepares for the future.
Thank You Tour:
The NPP’s Thank You Tour, set to begin later this week, aims to show appreciation to party faithful and supporters across the country for their dedication during the 2024 election campaign.
Dr Bawumia reiterated his commitment to leading a reinvigorated and united NPP, ready to reclaim power in 2028.
“We are going back to the people not only to thank them, but also to renew our covenant of service and transformation,” he added
The committee, chaired by former Speaker of Parliament Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, was tasked with conducting a post-election review following the NPP’s loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 2024 elections.
