The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee has held a joint meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC), the Ghana Police Service, and representatives of all presidential aspirants as part of final preparations for the party’s flagbearer primary scheduled for January 31.
The meeting, which took place in Accra on Tuesday, centred on coordination, security planning, and strict adherence to electoral procedures to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and credible voting process. Officials from the Electoral Commission briefed participants on logistical arrangements, ballot management, and the Commission’s supportive role in the conduct of the internal party election.
Representatives of the Ghana Police Service outlined comprehensive security measures aimed at protecting delegates, election officials, and sensitive materials before, during, and after the polls.
They emphasised the need for cooperation from all aspirant camps to prevent disturbances and safeguard the integrity of the exercise.
The Elections Committee described the engagement as part of its broader strategy to promote transparency and build confidence among all contenders. Committee members stressed that continuous consultation with key institutions is crucial to avoiding operational challenges or misunderstandings on election day.
Spokespersons for the presidential aspirants used the meeting to seek clarification on issues such as accreditation, movement of supporters, and expected conduct of campaign teams at voting centres.
In response, the committee assured all parties that clear and enforceable guidelines would be applied to guarantee a level playing field.
With less than two weeks to the contest, party officials noted that preparations have entered a critical phase, underscoring the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to deliver a peaceful and credible NPP presidential primary
