Story by Henry Ameyaw

The General Overseer and Head Pastor of the Counsel of God Church at Afrancho Bronkong in Kumasi, Rev. John Osei, has expressed deep concern about the growing trend of some ministers of God misinterpreting the Bible for personal gain.
According to him, many so-called ministers distort the scriptures because of their desire for money rather than a genuine commitment to preaching the truth of God’s word.
Rev John Osei disclosed this in an interview with GhNewsday Online noted that such individuals fail to study and understand the Bible properly before teaching it to others.
Rev. Osei explained that when interpreting the word of God, it is important to consider grammar, culture, history, and context. Unfortunately, he said, many preachers ignore these essential elements and instead build entire sermons on single verses taken out of context.
“Every language has rules that guide its understanding,” he said. “It is important for ministers to study well before interpreting the scriptures. It is worrying to see so-called men of God preaching the gospel out of context. That is very dangerous.”
He further emphasized that ministers who deliberately twist the scriptures are being used by the devil to distort the truth and mislead genuine Christians.
Rev. Osei lamented that some of these preachers prioritize quick money over spiritual growth, leading to confusion among believers.
In a related remark, he commended the Bible Society of Ghana for its efforts in making the Word of God accessible to all Christians.
He particularly praised the Society for producing the Asante Twi Braille Bible for the visually impaired, describing it as a great milestone in spreading the gospel.
He appealed to churches and Christians across the country to support the Bible Society in producing more Bibles in different formats and local languages to help promote true biblical understanding.
