Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has been elected the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
COKA secured 663 votes to defeat his sole contender, former Bantama Member of Parliament, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who polled 269 votes.
The results were declared after voting and the subsequent collation of ballots at the Ashanti Regional NPP executive elections held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
COKA, a former Afigya Sekyere South Constituency Chairman, will now lead the party’s regional administration and oversee its activities across the region.
His election comes at a crucial time as the NPP seeks to rebuild and strengthen its grassroots structures, reorganise the party and position itself ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The results bring an end to the closely watched two-horse contest between COKA and Dr Kokofu, with COKA emerging as the clear winner with a 394-vote margin.
The Ashanti Region remains one of the NPP’s traditional strongholds and is expected to play a critical role in the party’s efforts to revive its fortunes following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
As the newly elected regional chairman, COKA is expected to work closely with constituency executives, party supporters and other stakeholders to strengthen unity, grassroots mobilisation and the overall organisation of the NPP in the region.
