His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has praised the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Ashanti Regional Police Command and the IGP’s Special Operations Team (SOT) for their unwavering efforts in combating crime and enhancing security across the country.
The commendation came on Wednesday when the leadership of the Special Operations Team paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace.
During the visit, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Arthur Osei Akoto, formally introduced the SOT leadership, headed by Superintendent Augustine Dawson-Ahmoah, to the revered monarch.
He explained that the establishment of the Special Operations Team forms part of the IGP’s strategic vision to strengthen intelligence-led policing, improve crime prevention and enhance public safety nationwide.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II noted that the sustained operations and proactive policing initiatives undertaken by the Ghana Police Service have significantly contributed to reducing criminal activities in the Ashanti Region.
He particularly cited progress made in tackling offences such as drug trafficking, armed robbery and human trafficking.
The Asantehene encouraged the officers to remain steadfast in their mission by maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity while carrying out their responsibilities.
He also urged them to prioritise their personal safety as they continue to protect the lives and property of Ghanaians.
Speaking on behalf of the team, the Director of the Special Operations Team expressed gratitude to Otumfuo for his encouragement and continued support for the Ghana Police Service.
He reaffirmed the team’s commitment to working tirelessly with other units of the Police Service to safeguard lives and property, strengthen national security and ensure lasting peace and stability across the country.
