MTN Ghana Deepens Healthcare Support Through Hospital Refurbishment Initiative

Accra, June 25, 2026 –

 The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Stephen Blewett,   has reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare delivery and community well-being through a nationwide hospital bed and furniture refurbishment initiative under this year’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care programme.

Speaking at , the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, , joined employee volunteers and partners in refurbishing hospital beds and furniture as part of efforts to improve conditions in healthcare facilities across the country.

According to him, the initiative demonstrates MTN Ghana’s belief that meaningful impact goes beyond financial donations and requires active participation in transforming lives and communities.

He noted that for many patients, a hospital bed represents more than just furniture, describing it as a place of healing, recovery and hope. 

He explained that the intervention seeks to provide safer, more comfortable and dignified environments for patients during difficult periods of their lives.

Stephen described the 21 Days of Y’ello Care programme as one of MTN Ghana’s most impactful employee volunteer initiatives, where staff dedicate their time, skills and energy annually to support communities nationwide.

“Giving back is not only about financial contributions. It is about being present, actively participating and working alongside communities to create positive change,” he stated.

Under the initiative, MTN Ghana has so far refurbished 3,880 hospital beds nationwide. The project includes mechanical restoration, repairs, repainting and the refurbishment of hospital furniture, including the reupholstering of wooden furniture in selected healthcare facilities.

Stephen explained that beyond infrastructure improvement, the project aims to restore comfort, dignity and quality healthcare for patients while creating environments that promote healing and recovery.

He also called on corporate organisations to play stronger roles in addressing national development challenges, particularly in the healthcare sector.

“Imagine the impact if every major company committed to supporting healthcare facilities and other critical sectors. Together, we can strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system and improve the quality of life for thousands of people,” he added.

Beyond the refurbishment project, MTN Ghana announced a partnership with  to support vulnerable patients facing financial difficulties.

Through the partnership, DOSH Health Insurance will provide a health insurance support package valued at GH¢1 million to assist medically discharged patients who are unable to settle their hospital bills.

Speaking on behalf of DOSH Health Insurance, Head of Sales and Marketing, , said the collaboration highlights the importance of partnerships in making healthcare accessible to vulnerable people.

“This intervention goes beyond settling hospital bills. Beneficiaries will also receive health insurance coverage to support subsequent medical visits throughout the year, ensuring continued access to healthcare services,” she explained.

The programme is expected to benefit about 100 individuals across selected healthcare facilities nationwide, helping beneficiaries return home free from financial burden while maintaining access to healthcare support.

Through initiatives such as 21 Days of Y’ello Care, MTN Ghana continues to mobilise employees to contribute their time, expertise and passion towards projects that support national development and create lasting impact in communities across Ghana.
