Accra, April 14, 2026

The MTN Ghana Y’ello Ladies Network has marked its first anniversary with a vibrant and inspiring celebration, reaffirming its commitment to empowering women and promoting inclusive leadership across the organization.

Held at the MTN House in Accra under the theme “Give to Gain – When Women Thrive, We All Rise,” the event brought together over 500 female employees, alongside professionals, executives, and mentors, for a day of reflection, mentorship, and forward-looking engagement.

Delivering the welcome address, Chief Finance Officer and Chairlady of the network, Antoinette Kwofie, described the past year as a transformative journey, highlighting the network’s growth into a vibrant and impactful community built on connection, shared purpose, and empowerment.

“A year ago, we envisioned a platform where women at MTN Ghana could connect, grow, lead, and uplift one another. Today, that vision has blossomed into a powerful community,” she stated.

She noted that the network has rolled out impactful initiatives, including health-focused programmes under the “I Am Enough” series. Among its major achievements was a Breast Cancer Awareness campaign and walk that raised GHS 200,000.

Out of this, GHS 150,000 was donated to the Breast Cancer Unit at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, while GHS 50,000 supported Breast Care International.

Looking ahead, Kwofie outlined key initiatives for the coming year, including a Women in Leadership Summit, Leadership Masterclass Series, Leadership Café sessions, Speed Mentoring programmes, Community Leadership Day, and workplace improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the experience of women within the organization.

Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Stephen Blewett, commended the network for surpassing expectations and emphasized the critical role women play in driving the company’s success.

“What it has become today is far bigger than I ever imagined. Ideas come to life in ways that exceed expectations,” he remarked, urging both men and women to champion mentorship and inclusive leadership.

The guest speaker, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, CEO and Founder of BrainWave Africatech, reinforced the theme by underscoring the importance of giving as a leadership principle.

“The most meaningful success is not what we accumulate, but what we contribute,” she said, encouraging women to embrace collective growth and purposeful leadership.

A major highlight of the event was a Fireside Chat moderated by broadcast journalist Naa Ashorkor, featuring insights from leading women including Ayisha Ayensu, CEO and Creative Director of Christie Brown; Theresa Ayoade, CEO of Charterhouse; and Uche Ofodile.

The panelists shared personal experiences on leadership, mentorship, and career growth.

Ayensu emphasized self-investment and authenticity as key to empowering others, while Ayoade highlighted the importance of mentorship in shaping her career.

Ofodile, on her part, stressed the value of sponsorship, noting that a single opportunity can transform one’s professional trajectory.

The celebration also featured an interactive speed mentoring session with members of the Executive Women Network, offering participants practical guidance across various professional fields, including finance, human resources, communications, law, entrepreneurship, and leadership development.

Adding to the excitement were performances by the all-female band Lipstick and saxophonist Naa Torshie Hagan, creating a lively atmosphere for the occasion, which culminated in a ceremonial cake-cutting to mark a year of growth and impact.
