Agyepong Describes January 31 NPP Primaries as Test of Party’s Soul

Presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong, has characterised the party’s January 31 flagbearer primaries as a defining moment that will determine the “soul of NPP tradition.”

Speaking to delegates in Accra on Tuesday, January 20, Agyepong said the upcoming primaries should not be reduced to personal ambitions but must be anchored in the party’s long-standing values of unity, discipline and selfless service to the Ghanaian people.

He noted that the decision delegates make must reflect the ideals and traditions that have sustained the NPP over the years, stressing the importance of electing a leader who can hold the party together.

Agyepong warned that lingering divisions from previous internal contests could undermine the party’s chances in the 2028 general elections, cautioning against factionalism and internal rivalries.

“The unity of the party must guide every delegate’s decision,” he said, urging members to place the collective interest of the NPP above individual preferences
