Former Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has expressed strong confidence in his chances of winning the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries if they were to be held today, pointing to faith, party unity, and his personal record of service as the foundation of his optimism.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Dr. Adutwum said his belief is rooted in divine guidance, growing grassroots support, and his contributions to both the party and national development.
“I feel I would win the NPP primaries if they were held today,” he said. “I believe in divine providence, and I have faith in the people.”
He noted that the NPP has reached a crucial moment and must choose a leader who can not only transform the country but also bring cohesion within the party.
“We are looking for a leader who will change this country first and foremost, and we are also looking for a leader who will be able to unify the party,” Dr. Adutwum stated.
According to him, his approach to politics sets him apart from other aspirants, as he avoids internal conflicts and refrains from personal attacks.
“I believe I am the one who can bring that unity because I am not a source of any acrimony,” he said. “I am not saying anything bad about anybody; I am simply selling myself.”
Dr. Adutwum explained that his engagements with party delegates are centered on his personal journey, experience, achievements, and vision for the future, rather than negative campaigning.
“When I go before the delegates, it is all about Yaw Adutwum—helping them understand who I am, where I am coming from, what I have done, and what I will do if they give me the opportunity,” he added.
