MetLife Stadium, New Jersey – Chelsea lifted their second FIFA Club World Cup title in emphatic fashion, sweeping aside UEFA Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain with a dominant 3-0 victory, powered by a brilliant Cole Palmer performance.
The 22-year-old midfielder was at the heart of Chelsea’s triumph, scoring twice and assisting another as the London side secured global glory. Palmer opened the scoring midway through the first half after a surging run by Malo Gusto, calmly side-footing the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Just eight minutes later, Palmer struck again with a near-identical finish, showcasing composure and precision to double Chelsea’s advantage. He capped off a sensational first-half display by turning provider, slipping in Joao Pedro to delicately chip Donnarumma and make it 3-0 before the break.
Paris Saint-Germain, despite flashes of promise, struggled to match Chelsea’s intensity. Desire Doue squandered a key early chance, and despite second-half efforts from Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha, they were denied by Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
To compound PSG’s woes, midfielder Joao Neves received a straight red card four minutes from time for violent conduct after pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair, leaving the French champions to finish the game with 10 men.
The result marks a significant milestone for Chelsea, who added another international trophy to their cabinet and sent a strong message ahead of the new European season.
