The government has announced plans to rename Ghana’s main international airport, the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), as part of upcoming legislative business in Parliament.
The announcement was made by the Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at a Press briefing.
According to him, the proposed new name for the facility is Accra International Airport.
Mr. Ayariga explained that the renaming initiative will be captured in a bill to be laid before Parliament.
The bill forms part of a list of legislative proposals scheduled for debate as Parliament resumes sittings today after the Christmas recess.
If approved by lawmakers, the change will officially alter the name of the country’s principal aviation gateway, which currently serves as Ghana’s main hub for international travel and commerce.
