The National Service Authority (NSA) has officially released postings for 6,867 nurses and midwives for the 2026/27 national service year, paving the way for them to begin their mandatory one-year service across the country.

The postings, announced on February 25, 2026, apply to qualified nurses and midwives who successfully passed the March/April 2025 licensure examination conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

In a statement, the Authority directed all eligible personnel to check their placements on the NSA portal and complete a compulsory regional validation process before reporting to their assigned stations.

The regional validation exercise is scheduled to commence on Thursday, February 26, and end on Friday, March 13, 2026. However, the official national service period is expected to begin on Monday, March 2, 2026.

The NSA urged all posted personnel to adhere strictly to the validation timeline to avoid delays or complications that could affect their enrolment and deployment.

National service is a statutory obligation under the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), which requires all Ghanaian graduates from accredited tertiary institutions, including nursing training colleges, to undertake one year of service to the nation.

The deployment of the newly trained nurses and midwives is anticipated to boost healthcare delivery across Ghana, particularly in underserved and rural communities where staffing shortages continue to pose significant challenges
