


There was a renewed sense of hope and anticipation in Ayikuma as government officials, traditional authorities and residents gathered for the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 12-unit classroom block at Ayikuma Methodist Basic School in the Shai-Osudoku District.
The ceremony brought together the Greater Acrcra Regional minister, Hon Linda Obenewaa Alweley, District Chief Executive, Hon. Ignatius Godfred Dordoe, alongside traditional leaders and members of the community, marking the official commencement of a project aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure in the district.
Addressing the gathering, the the Greater Acrcra Regional minister, emphasized that the project demonstrates government’s unwavering commitment to improving access to quality education.
Hon Linda Obenewaa who is also a Member of Parliament for the Shai-Osudoku constituency noted that education remains the bedrock of sustainable development, stressing that investment in safe, adequate and modern learning facilities is a direct investment in the intellectual and socio-economic advancement of children and the nation at large.
She acknowledged that the current state of infrastructure in many schools within the district highlights the urgent need for deliberate and sustained intervention.


According to her, the 12-unit classroom block is not merely a physical structure, but a strategic investment in human capital development.
Adding that Once completed, the facility is expected to ease congestion, enhance the teaching and learning environment, and create the right conditions for academic excellence.
She further explained that the project forms part of a broader agenda to ensure equitable development across the district.
In line with this vision, similar 12-unit classroom blocks have been earmarked for construction at Ghanata Senior High School and Osudoku Technical Institute to further strengthen the educational landscape of Shai-Osudoku.
She commended the l District Assembly for its effective collaboration and strategic coordination in bringing the project to fruition.
She charged the contractor, Mr. Julius Quashigah of KETEH-PLUTUS LTD, for acknowledged for his readiness to commence work as scheduled.
She urged Stakeholders, including traditional authorities and the school community, to offer their full cooperation to ensure the timely and successful completion of the project.
The minister concluded with a reaffirmation of government’s commitment to accelerating development, enhancing infrastructure delivery, and improving the quality of life for residents across the Shai-Osudoku District.
Community members expressed optimism that the new classroom block will help secure a brighter future for generations to come.
