The Headmistress of Ejisu Senior High Technical School, Madam Grace Asamani, has made a passionate appeal to the government, old students, and other stakeholders to come to the aid of the school as it marks its 35th anniversary.

Speaking at the launch of the anniversary celebration, Madam Asamani reflected on the school’s journey over the past thirty-five years, describing it as one filled with countless triumphs, challenges, and transformative experiences.

Despite its achievements, she stressed that the school is grappling with serious infrastructure deficits that are affecting academic work and student life.

According to her, the school is in dire need of additional classrooms, a proper dining hall, an assembly hall, and adequate furniture. She revealed that students often struggle to find tables and chairs during lessons, as furniture meant for other purposes has been redirected to classrooms to meet urgent needs.

“Almost all the dining hall tables and benches have found their way into classrooms, and many of them are broken due to constant movement from one place to another,” she lamented.

Madam Asamani further disclosed that conditions at the dining hall are far from ideal, with some students forced to stand while taking their meals.

During examinations, the situation becomes even more challenging, as classes without adequate furniture are compelled to give up their desks and chairs for students writing exams, disrupting teaching and learning activities.

She also highlighted the school’s accommodation challenges, noting that since its establishment, the institution has never had a standard dormitory with the necessary ancillary facilities. The structures currently being used as boys’ dormitories, she explained, were not originally designed for that purpose.

In addition, part of an uncompleted PTA classroom block is being used to house some female students due to the lack of adequate dormitory space.

The only near-standard girls’ dormitory block, she added, has just its ground floor completed.

Madam Asamani pointed out that the school has only two standard bungalows—one occupied by the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics and the other by the Senior Housemistress.

The bungalow originally meant for the Headmistress is currently being used as a storage facility for food items.

She therefore emphasized the urgent need for stakeholders to support the construction of residential accommodation for staff to ensure proper supervision of boarding students and to improve overall discipline and academic performance.

As the school celebrates 35 years of existence, the Headmistress expressed hope that the anniversary would not only be a time of reflection but also a turning point in addressing the pressing infrastructure needs of the institution.
