The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has commenced work on three major school infrastructure projects aimed at improving the delivery of second-cycle education in the municipality.

The beneficiary institutions are Kwadaso Methodist Technical Institute (MTI), Agric Nzema Senior High School, and Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School.

At Kwadaso Methodist Technical Institute, the project scope includes the construction of a two-storey administration block, a two-storey classroom block, a two-storey dormitory, and two modern washroom facilities. Agric Nzema Senior High School is set to receive a two-storey classroom block complete with water tanks and a reservoir, as well as a new dining hall fitted with a fully furnished kitchen.

Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School will benefit from a three-storey, 18-unit classroom block and a two-storey dormitory.

When completed, the new facilities are expected to significantly enhance teaching and learning, reduce overcrowding in classrooms and dormitories, and improve sanitation across the schools.

The projects were officially launched by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, Eric Assibey, the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, officials from the Kwadaso Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES), and traditional authorities.

Funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the projects are being executed by Engineering Face Limited and are scheduled for completion within 24 months.

In an interview with the press, Municipal Chief Executive for Kwadaso(MCE) Hon.  Eric Assibey said the projects form part of the government’s broader commitment to strengthening education infrastructure nationwide.

He urged the contractor to strictly adhere to project specifications, use quality and durable materials, and complete the works within the agreed timelines.

He also stressed the importance of engaging local skilled labour and artisans, particularly residents of the Kwadaso Municipality, to promote local economic participation and ownership.

For his part, Prof. Kingsley Nyarko commended the government for initiating the infrastructure projects, describing them as timely interventions that will greatly ease challenges faced by both teachers and students in the beneficiary schools.

He assured that he would work to ensure the timely release of funds to enable the contractor to complete the projects without delays.

The heads of the beneficiary schools welcomed the development and expressed appreciation to the government for addressing their infrastructural needs.

The Head of Kwadaso Methodist Technical Institute, Mr. Kwame Adu Kese; the Headmistress of Agric Nzema Senior High School, Mrs. Gladys Safowah; and the Headmistress of Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School, Mrs. Felicia Asamoah Danquah, said the projects would improve school infrastructure, create a more conducive learning environment, and ultimately boost academic performance.

They also appealed to GETFund to ensure the prompt release of funds to the contractor to prevent delays in the completion of the projects.
