


The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, together with the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, on Sunday attended the final Akwasidae celebration of the year at the historic Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The revered occasion was presided over by His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, and brought together a distinguished gathering of traditional rulers, state officials, clergy, opinion leaders, and thousands of people of Asanteman in a solemn yet colourful display of the Asante Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage and time-honoured traditions.
The presence of the President underscored the deep respect of the state for chieftaincy and traditional authority, and highlighted the enduring partnership between government and the institution of traditional leadership in advancing national development and social cohesion.




Addressing the gathering, the leaders emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and mutual cooperation as indispensable pillars for progress, particularly as the nation and the Asante Kingdom prepare to usher in a new year filled with hope and renewed commitment to development.
The Akwasidae, a sacred ceremony on the Asante calendar, provided an opportunity for the people to pay homage to their ancestors, renew loyalty to the Golden Stool, and reflect on shared values that continue to bind Asanteman together.
The event concluded with prayers and goodwill messages for His Royal Majesty, the President, and the people of Ghana, reaffirming a collective resolve to work together towards a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive future for all.
