Kumasi, October 26, 2025 — The Bible Society of Ghana has made a historic stride in inclusive Christian ministry with the launch of the first-ever Asante Twi Braille Bible, providing access to the Scriptures for visually impaired persons in the Asante Twi language.

The official launch took place at the Calvary Society of the Methodist Church, Amakom, Kumasi, as part of the Bible Society’s 60th Anniversary celebration. The ceremony drew clergy and distinguished guests from various denominations across the country, underscoring the national significance of the milestone.

Speaking at the event, the General Secretary of the Bible Society of Ghana, Very Rev. Dr. John Kwesi Addo Jnr, noted that the Society has a longstanding tradition of translating the Holy Bible into Ghanaian languages such as Akuapem Twi, Ewe, and Ga.

He explained that the introduction of the Asante Twi Braille Bible is a continuation of the Society’s broader mission to make the Word of God accessible to all, including persons with visual impairments.

“Our goal is to ensure that everyone—regardless of their physical abilities—has the opportunity to read and experience God’s Word. Beyond translation, the Society also distributes Braille and audio Bibles to schools and libraries nationwide,” he stated.

Delivering the sermon on the theme “We Walk by Faith, Not by Sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7), Rev. Joseph Appiah, Associate Pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, emphasized that faith is the cornerstone of the Christian life.

“No one can walk in sight without faith,” he preached, encouraging believers to place their full trust in God.

He commended the Methodist Church Ghana for its continued support for persons with physical and visual impairments, highlighting the Church’s role in establishing schools for the blind.

Rev. Appiah further drew inspiration from the biblical figure Samson, describing him as a symbol of perseverance and victory through faith.

“Samson’s strength and triumph were rooted in his faith. Likewise, Christians today must walk by faith to overcome life’s challenges,” he added.

The event marked a major step forward in the Bible Society’s efforts to ensure that the Word of God reaches every Ghanaian heart—in every language and every form.
